Where the Heart Is
April 10th - April 26th, 2025
Opening Reception: April 17th, 2025, 6-9 PM
Where The Heart Is delves into the intimate connection between domestic spaces and personal identity. The exhibition makes use of the hybrid nature of documentary storytelling, weaving together personal narratives with cultural explorations. Each artwork reflects on how home, family, and memory shape one’s life, whilst touching on themes of loss, migration, and language. Each unique story examines what it means to belong, to find comfort, and to heal, through varied notions of home.
This group exhibition, featuring artists Amelia Sopta, Mursal Mohammadi, Jonathan Andrew B. Taala, Izabel Della Siepe, and Kennedy Soong Bouchard, was created in collaboration with Toronto Metropolitan University’s School of Image Arts: Documentary Media Graduate programme, featuring student work produced under the guidance of professor Dave Kemp.
