forms of unknowing

This exhibition showcases the creative-research of participants in ArtspaceTMU’s 2026 Creative Research Intensive Summer Program (CRISP)

Developed through the 2026 CRISP residency, Forms of Unknowing brings together five artist-researchers whose practices explore understanding not as something fixed or fully knowable, but as something formed through experience, embodiment, material encounters, and ongoing processes of making.

Across the residency, I witnessed works evolve through experimentation, conversation, uncertainty, and unexpected change. Sensory memory and belonging, material transformation and contingency, histories of erasure and accountability, shifting experiences of time, and the tension between embodied and mediated presence emerge across these distinct practices.

Rather than offering singular answers, the works invite different ways of attending to bodies, materials, memories, histories, environments, and one another. Here, unknowing is not an absence of understanding, but a space in which understanding remains open, unfolding through practice, relation, perception, and lived experience.
