Exhibition Run: Thursday, November 1st, 2018 - Friday, November 16th, 2018
A single channel projection of Kathleen’s short film entitled Vignette. Vignette is a 13 minute art film that is comprised of numerous short impressionistic scenes. This piece is a playful work that entertains enigma and concerns itself with the poetics of the cinematic image. Throughout this repertoire of visual vignettes exists the invitation into consideration of various themes unique to humanness. In the linger, in the moments just before and in the in-between, here the communicative power of gesture is made palpable.

Kathleen Caring Rogers is an image-based artist from Toronto. Within her craft exists a divergence between social documentary and fanciful theatrics. Her predilection to capture the real and the raw takes its form in both. Kathleen’s visual storytelling bears witness to her ongoing wonder for the human experience. In the final year of her BFA came a keenness for the intermixing of various artistic avenues. This mingling of mediums continues to captivate her: performance, directing, mise-en-scene, spontaneous collaboration that borders on anthropology. In her own process of art-making, Kathleen is continually influenced by her faith in God as the ultimate force of joy and creativity. Her considerations for the future include graduate studies in cinematography.
