Full of Holes is an exploration of empathy, openness, slowness, and vulnerability. It focuses on the simple act of paying attention to peer into the interconnectedness of all things, and feel out the mysterious tissue that holds us. Spanning mediums, the project consists of lens-based artworks, hand-carved beehives, performances, skillsharing workshops, and poetic text in the form of an illustrated manuscript. It advocates intersectional, decolonial, and sustainable futurities, through sensitivity, collaboration, slow living, and critical engagement.

Meandering the woods and hills of so-called “Canada” on Turtle Island, Erin Whittier is a nomadic lens-based artist working with land, poetic text, bookmaking, and performance. Whittier’s practice is informed through mindfulness, phenomenology, rewilding, decolonial and intersectional politics, fears of the anthropocene, and a spiritual reverence for hands caked with soil, Whittier is a recent BFA Photography graduate from Ryerson University, Toronto, and has participated in art residencies and exchanges across Turtle Island and beyond, including Nova Scotia, Quebec, Mexico, and New Zealand.

+ GALLERY ACCESSIBILITY INFO:

There is one large step leading into the gallery. The connecting Melody Bar at the Gladstone Hotel is wheelchair accessible, with a concrete ramp, but no automatic door. The gallery can be accessed through the bar. There are two non-gendered, non-wheelchair accessible bathrooms attached to the gallery, and a wheelchair-accessible bathroom is located on the main floor of the Gladstone Hotel.
