Artspace is pleased to present the First Edition Photobook Exhibition. The exhibition features the works created by Toronto Metropolitan University’s Photography Media Arts third year students for The Photographic Book Class.
This exhibition showcases the diverse voices and themes of mapping, identity, nostalgia, connection, and transformation, offering in-depth and imaginative perspectives on the world around us. From explorations of music communities to reflection on cultural spaces, or revisiting formative years and uncovering individuality through personal and natural details, each work shares an intimate and thoughtful look at these narratives.
We are excited to announce that the university Library’s Special Collections Department is adjudicating the First Edition Photobook Award, generously sponsored by the Photographic Historical Society of Canada. The award is an exciting opportunity for students to have their photobook purchased and archived in the university’s Special Collections department.
The 2025 iteration of this exhibition was made possible thanks to the creativity and efforts of the MPS 507 class, guided by instructors Eliot Wright and Ryan Walker, alongside the dedicated team at Artspace TMU, and the First Edition team: Kyleigh Crooks, Syd Deneau, Theresa Duerr-Farrell, Hailey Maurice-Cyr, Eufemae Menendez, Chloë Shia, and Emma Suykens.
